Linear Welding & Fabrication: The Pearland Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Linear-compatible welding and fabrication parts for Pearland gates, with most bracket, hinge, and mount repairs running $240 to $680 installed, depending on the part and access. We carry common Linear weldments on the truck, so a single-visit fix is the norm, not the exception. Where owners usually discover the problem: the gate has gone out of square, a hinge is groaning or sagging, or the operator is fighting a mount that let go after years of Houston humidity and soil movement. The motor still runs fine. The steel around it didn’t.

Which Linear Models This Applies To

Linear’s actuator line spans a lot of geometry. The APeX series, the LDO and LD series, the Classic Pro line, and the older LS and LR swing operators all use fabricated steel mounts and brackets that are specific to the operator’s throw and the gate’s leaf weight. A bracket that fits an APeX-5 on a tube-steel gate will not sit right on an LDO-8 driving a heavy ornamental leaf. The mounting plate bolt pattern is the first thing we check: Linear changed hole spacing across generations, and an owner who buys a universal plate online often finds the operator sitting a half-inch off the swing arc, which throws the limit settings into a slow drift of error. OEM Linear weldments are still the cleanest match for Linear operators. Quality aftermarket steel is fine when the fabricator knows the exact standoff height and weld position, which is the work we do in-house. We’re an independent service provider, not a Linear affiliate, so we’re free to use whichever part actually fits your model without steering you toward a full operator replacement.

Signs Your Linear Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

Signs Your Linear Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
  • The gate sags at the hinge side. A worn pivot barrel or stretched hinge weld lets the leaf drop, and the operator’s arm starts fighting gravity instead of swing arc. You’ll hear it before you see it usually, a low creak on every open cycle.
  • The operator mount is loose or cracking. Powder coat hides a lot. Look for rust lines radiating from the bolt holes or the base plate. In Pearland’s humidity, a hairline crack at a weld toe becomes a full separation in one season.
  • The operator arm connects at an angle now. When the bracket is fatiguing, the arm no longer sits parallel to the leaf. The actuator still strokes, but the geometry is off, and the limit switches start tripping early or late.
  • You hear a clunk when the gate changes direction. That’s usually slack in the clevis pin or an egged-out hole in the bracket ear. It’s the sound of metal wearing metal, and it gets louder fast.
  • Fresh rust bleeding from a weld joint. Not surface rust. That dark, weeping rust at a joint means the weld has cracked under the coating and water is inside. We see this constantly on Pearland gates that face south and bake all day, then cool into humid nights.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Most Linear welding and fabrication repairs in Pearland land between $240 and $680 installed. A simple hinge replacement or operator mount reinforcement is on the lower end. A full re-fabrication of a twisted gate frame corner or a custom bracket for an odd swing geometry is on the upper end. The price is written down before we touch a tool. No verbal estimate, no surprise invoice at the end. The written scope includes the exact part number, the labor, and the weld procedure. And our weldments carry the same 365-Day Done Right Promise as everything else we do: if the part fails within a year, we make it right at no additional charge.

You can check a few things safely: the hinge movement, the bolt tightness on the operator mount, the rust pattern around the base plate. What we’d rather you not do is grind, cut, or weld on a gate that’s under tension or carrying a live operator. A sagging leaf stores a lot of energy, and cutting the wrong member first can turn a repair into an injury. And welding to a gate with the operator still wired is how boards get fried. We do this work with the operator locked out, the gate blocked, and the welds photographed before and after, because under Haven Standard Clause 4, every job leaves a documented photo record. If you’re in Pearland and the weld has let go, call (346) 253-3225 and we’ll get eyes on it.
